Growing up on the east coast, I fell in love with photography at the age of 10 watching my first image appear in a tray of developer in my Dad’s closet darkroom. I was given my first camera at the age of 15, my Dad’s Minolta X-G7 and a 50mm lens, and began documenting our backyard ramp skateboarding sessions and weekend surf trips to the beach. Inspired photographically by National Geographic as a kid, and having an equally strong passion for surfing, and the biology of the world oceans, I moved to California to pursue a career as a marine biologist, surf the west coast, and document what inspired me through my lens. It wasn’t until four years into my career as a High Seas Field Biologist that I quit my job with the National Marine Fisheries service to pursue my childhood dream of working as a commercial photographer. I recently graduated with a Master’s in Spiritual Psychology in 2008, and presently reside in Santa Monica, CA shooting for various, editorial, advertising and music industry clients. I currently continue to spend my free time searching the world oceans for perfect surf with my best friends, practicing yoga and documenting the beauty and joy of life’s adventures through the perspective of my lens.
My photos are about capturing reality, raw beauty, and emotion with the intention of creating a space that invites authenticity, transparency and vulnerability to come forward in my subjects. I am inspired by physical world reality and it's ever changing canvas of life, and all of the opportunities it brings to connect with human nature and the spirit within us all. I am grateful to make a living doing something I Love and I look forward to working with you soon.
